February 3, 2025In January, leading conservation experts from around the world gathered in Paris for a special symposium on sustainable education in conservation, organized by the GoGreen project. The event brought together representatives from institutions including DIM-PAMIR, UCLA-Getty, ICOMOS, ECCO, the French Ministry of Culture, Bern University of the Arts, the Tangible Heritage Conservation Program, Van Wouw House (South Africa), the Continuing Education National Heritage Institute Conservation Department (France), the University of Pisa, Aix-Marseille University, the University of Glasgow, the Fashion Institute of Technology at Columbia University, and C2RMF.
The symposium focused on a critical question: How can sustainability be effectively integrated into conservation education? While sustainability is widely recognized as essential, implementing it in training programs remains a challenge. Experts shared research, discussed current educational approaches, and explored strategies for embedding sustainability into conservation curricula.
Insights from the event will inform the development of training modules through the GoGreen project, designed to equip conservation professionals with practical tools for sustainable practices. These resources will support institutions worldwide in integrating sustainability into their programs.
Stay tuned for updates on GoGreen’s progress and opportunities to get involved in shaping the future of conservation education.
