    GoGreen in Amsterdam

    June 26, 2024
Five female researchers gathered around a table analyzing a varnish removal technique.

In June the GoGreen team met in Amsterdam to workshop and test out some of the innovative materials being developed through the GoGreen project.

Joining the session were Austin Nevin (The Courtauld Institute of Art), David Thickett (English Heritage), Clare Richardson (The Courtauld Institute of Art), Claire Betelu (Paris 1), Sander van Lith (UvA), Antanas Melinis (English Heritage), Han Zhou (University of Amsterdam), Francesca Ramacciotti (UniBo), Katrien Keune (Rijksmuseum/ UvA), Mathieu Thoury (CNRS IPANEMA), Gwen Fife (Rijksmuseum/ Ki Culture), Laure Cazals (CNRS), Aviva Burnstock (The Courtauld Institute of Art), Momoko Okuyama (Rijksmuseum), Maartje Stols-Witlox (UvA), Burcu Keser (UniBo/ SAATI), Beatrice Menegaldo (The Courtauld Institute of Art). The researchers gathered to test various materials and methods being developed through GoGreen, including greener electrospun tissues being developed by UniBo and SAATI for application with greener solvents such as dimethyl carbonate and gamma-valerolactone. Further testing included using multispectral photoluminescence imaging equipment, a state of the art diagnostic technique, to investigate the varnish removal.
