The WP2 webinar focuses on the question “How can museums and heritage institutions reduce energy without putting the collections at risk?”. In many institutions, environmental control uses lots of energy and hence produces carbon dioxide and the equipment also has significant embedded carbon. Whilst other green parameters are considered, this webinar focuses on tools to decide whether HVAC is needed or if less intensive, greener methods can do the job safely and sufficient.

The webinar introduces damage functions for the primary materials examined in the GoGreen project, presented by David Thickett (English Heritage). It also explores methods for assessing the environmental requirements of individual objects. Additionally, environmentally vulnerable materials are modeled using an online platform, presented by Łukasz Bratasz (Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry).
